SCHOOL DONATION - VOLUNTARY The School Donation is: one student $45, family $65. The donation is for the additional non-curriculum services that are made available to all students to maintain quality resources and learning opportunities that are over and above Ministry of Education funding and required to meet our community expectations.
Please Note: Parents/caregivers can claim a donation tax credit of 33% at the end of the tax year for any donations and contributions made to schools and other qualifying groups. Please refer to Inland Revenue’s website www.ird.govt.nz or ring 0800 775 247 for further assistance (form IR526).
COURSE CONTRIBUTION The School may request a contribution towards some curriculum courses where there is a take-home component. Further information detailing the level of contribution requested is listed in the Buller High School Course Booklet.
NZQA FEES: USER PAYS The School acts as a collection agent for NZQA and is responsible for collecting all NZQA exam fees each year. The money is passed directly to NZQA. Please note: If these fees are not paid, the student will not receive their record of achievement for the current year from NZQA. NZQA fees will be applied later in the year.
OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES - USER PAYS The School continues to offer a wide range of optional activities to support our students
Participation in optional activities outside of the classroom such as Year 9 and Year 10 camps, sporting, academic or cultural trips and performances by visiting drama groups is voluntary. Optional activities, for the most part, incur a charge and these fees must be paid. Advance notice from the teacher in charge of the choice to participate in a trip or activity and the likely cost will be sent home via a letter. All fees for optional activities must be paid prior to the activity taking place. The only exception to the rule is when a prior arrangement has been made with the School.
Sporting Subscriptions: The School acts as a collection agent for a number of sporting codes within the District. Sports teams are required to pay a subscription before entering some local competitions. The School passes money it collects directly to the appropriate association. Participation in sporting activities is optional and therefore all subscriptions requested must be paid at the beginning of the competition season
REQUESTS FOR CONTRIBUTION, DONATION, FEES The School's request for course contribution and school donation will be sent to parents/caregivers in the month of March. Requests for payment of fees, which must be paid, for optional activities such as participation in camp, sporting, cultural or academic events/trips will be notified as they arise throughout the school year.
